Summary

  • The Process Calibration Technician is a semi-permanent position responsible for calibrations and documentation of instruments including but not limited to pressure, temperature, level, flow, analytical, and other instruments as needed. The assignment is mostly indoors in a clean, controlled environment with occasional out door assignments during shutdowns and as needed basis.

PRIME RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Calibrates, documents, troubleshoots and repairs a variety of flow meters, pressure transmitters, level transmitters, temperature transmitters, analytical instruments, and other instruments to meet customer’s requirements.
  • Determine possible system faults before calibration in order to determine test equipment and spare parts that may be required.
  • Visually inspects, tests and recommends changes to insure required installation meets manufacturer’s standards for operation.
  • Observes processes, apply and develop tests and procedures to detect proper or malfunctioning operation of equipment and discuss finding with customer or sales representative, make changes or adjustments to improve operation or offer a course of action to resolve problems.
  • Assembles, repairs and/or replaces related instrumentation and associated equipment.
  • Provide accurate, professional, and timely documentation of calibrations.
  • Communicate effectively with calibration lead, equipment owners, and quality personnel.
  • Conduct training for equipment owners regarding proper operation of various instruments.
  • Assist with training of less experienced field service technicians.
  • Complete safety, environmental, health, and process training as required by the customer on a scheduled basis.

MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • Associates degree in a technical field, or equivalent training and experience.
  • Experience in Food and Beverage, Pharmaceutical or Specialty Chemicals is preferred but not required.

TRAVEL

  • Travel is very minimal as this is an embedded position. The anticipated length of the assignment is at a minimum 1 year but will most likely continue for up to 5 years. Relocation or permanent residence in Birmingham, AL will be required during the assignment
